At a young age of 14, Carlos Silva, having recently moved from Portugal to the United States with his family, unknowingly embarked on a life long career in high-end architectural millwork. During the summer months off from school, and on weekends, he started cleaning up the workshop for one of the most prestigious millwork shops in New York. As he matured, he was given tasks of increased difficulty, and absorbed as much knowledge as he could. Gaining a certain love for the work he was performing, and the final product that he was involved in creating, he knew that one day he wanted to have a shop of his own. In an effort to further his knowledge, at the age of 22 Carlos studied drafting and went on to receive his degree.
In 2002 Carlos started S & V Custom Furniture Manufacturing Corp. with the intent of becoming one of the top millwork shops in New York. Through out the years he has recruited a team of highly skilled craftsman. Staying true to old world tradition, the majority of work completed is hand made. Carlos' completed projects have received such comments as "second to none", "best I've ever seen", "beautiful craftsmanship", and "definitely in the top millwork shops in New York". S & V Custom Furniture Manufacturing Corp. has completed many projects over the years; commercial, residential, large and small. Carlos has expertise in all phases of a project from design, to manufacture, to final install. Working with designers, contractors, and homeowners from Manhattan to the Hamptons.
In 2013 Carlos decided that it was time to take his life long project to a new level. Starting in 2013 S & V Custom Furniture Manufacturing Corp. will now be known as SV Custom Furniture. A new name: fresh and direct to the point, SV Custom Furniture will carry on manufacturing the same high end luxurious millwork that S & V has manufactured over the years for it's most discerning clients.
